勿洞 Betong21

Happy to accomplish #Betong21 Half-marathon on 24/11/24.

Betong is the southernmost city of Thailand, located right next to the Thailand-Malaysia border. It's just an hour drive from Gerik, Perak. 

Although it's a small event with around 600 runners in the 21km category, but we're very well taken care of. Water stations every 2km with Gatorade, fruits and delicious kuih-muih at some of them (and I tasted all of them 😋). They also provided 2 energy gels for each runner, which was generous and very rare in the half-marathon events. 

The weather was pleasant, the scenery was beautiful, the volunteers were fantastic and the local people were friendly. There were lots of foods and free flow beverages at the finish point.

However the route was extremely tough with countless brutal roller coaster hills. Some of them were too steep which were almost unrunable.

I only managed a 2:06 finish time but who cares about the result when I truly enjoyed the run.

泰國的路跑賽不曾讓我失望，這場勿洞半馬也一樣。雖然參賽者很少，但主辦當局非常用心，也成功把賽會辦得充滿歡樂氣氛。

以路線來說，這是我跑過最艱難的一場路跑賽。一個又一個極其陡峭的上坡路段，非常考驗跑者的體力和耐力。但同時也跑得非常開心，沿途在每一個水站吃吃喝喝，和路旁的義工居民互動，並欣賞破曉時分雲霧飄渺的山景。

這次我莎鴦也有參加，她跑的是10公里賽，一樣跑得很開心。

今年的最後一場賽事完成了，明年的則尚未報名。年復一年，但願我們能在賽場上繼續奔跑前進。
